Default What’s competitive nowadays?

Wondering what’s competitive nowadays to get a call from AA. Don’t have my app in yet because I feel I’m still on the low side.

regional FO
MIL Fixed-wing/Rotor wing
little over 2200 total time
1100+ turbine
under 100 TPIC MIL turbo prop
no MIL/ CIV check-ride failures
no skeletons in my closet

Maybe I have an opportunity? Or should I wait until 3k or so? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Always apply, in this market you never know. Get face time with recruiters at hiring events. Update your apps every two weeks religiously.

3500hrs TT
1700hrs ERJ175
300hrs CE680
no failures
no criminal background or DUI’s
no LOR’s
no degree

Is there any chance the screening algorithm would have mercy on me?

As other have said, absolutely have your apps in with everyone you're interested in. Additionally, I'd try to make any networking events and get face time.

There is absolutely no downside to having your app in ASAP. Put your app in, network, and go to events. If you don't put your app in, they for sure won't call.

Please tell me you are joking. Get your app in yesterday. Honestly, anybody with 1500 hours ought to have their app in at all majors. Every regional FO ought to have it in, hell even 1500 hour CFI’s could start being hired soon.

Except most majors require 1000 hours fixed wing turbine time to meet the job minimums. It looks like AA is the exception.

Those links are out of date. Delta no longer requires a 4-yr degree, for instance

Those requirements will drop as the majors have to compete for pilots. You’ll start to see some civilians skip regionals all together…of course the recession could change that, but would likely just delay it.
