Tattoos

I read the tattoo policy online that says “They allow pilot tattoos as long as they are not visible while on duty and do not contain any offensive content” And I’m wondering if you in the cockpit do you also have to keep it hidden?

Think in terms of, "if a passenger never sees it". How many passengers do you think are in the cockpit at any given time.

We have people with tattoos on their forearms. They managed to interview and get off probation just fine

If you take off your shirt and sit bare chested in the cockpit, then we may have other concerns.

Of one sort or another, depending on biological gender.

I plugged in your question to chat GPT and this is the answer gave;

As an artificial intelligence language model, I am not a pilot and do not have a physical form to have tattoos. However, according to the tattoo policy you mentioned, if a pilot has a visible tattoo that contains offensive content, they would not be permitted to display it while on duty. This means that if a pilot has such a tattoo, they would need to cover it up while on duty, including while in the cockpit. It is always best to check with the specific airline or employer for their policies and guidelines on tattoos.

I would ensure it remains hidden, throughout training and in the flight deck, until off probation. Just wear long sleeves. All it takes is one “Karen” or “Mike” to have an issue with it. Not worth the hassle or risk until off probation.

If it says "on duty" it means "on duty", including when the cockpit door is shut. At least while on probation.

After that you can Pres-to-Test inside the cockpit if desired.
