A330
I just read that the A332’s are coming out of storage. Is this true??
|
Where did you read that? I doubt it. The last "rumor" was that the 777-200 fleet was slowly going to be put out to pasture as they came up on their D checks because the maintenance cost too much $$$...which makes sense because they're around 25 years old now and can't really do anything for AA that the 787 can't. Unless there's something on the financial side (leases, sales, costs) that I'm unaware of, I seriously doubt AA is going to add a third widebody fleet to get 15 jets back on the property (the size of the 332 fleet when it was retired 3 years ago). Is there even a 330 sim on the property anymore? Or was that a US Air sim they got rid of? With the cancellation of US AIrs order for 22 A350s I wouldn't expect to see any airbus widebodies in the fleet...and with the increasing focus of AA as a domestic airline that probably fits the bill.

Apparently it came in a FA blast email…said bringing it back for peak summer 2024 flying PHL CLT and MIA. Pretty sure the 330 sims are still in CLT. Big if True

would make sense considering all the 787 delays. Assuming we still have a sim.
But seriously doubt AA would add a small, already dead, fleet back in the mix. The costs would be astronomical. Yes, the planes are undoubtedly paid for, but the training churn that would be created…. That was the whole reason for the fleet simplification to four. Besides, AA is talking to Airbuss and Boeing for up to two hundred more on the narrow body fleet, and it has been pretty clear that is AA’s focus now. |

Can't have pilots cross the Atlantic in a nice roomy WB cockpit!

The source is an old company blast that has been poorly photoshopped.

The A330 sims have been gone for awhile now, replaced with a CRJ and a 320 NEO. The CLT Training Center is now full.
That said, I'm sure that the A32F fleet would selflessly donate sims 2 and 3 to be converted to A330s, if we could add a wing and 2 more A320 NEO sims. Of all the things I've heard recently, this is the hardest to believe. Will probably happen. |
I'd more likely believe a 777X order than this....

I don’t think AA could afford 777Xs, nor would Boeing make them cheap enough. |
