I’d recommend looking up hotels in the vicinity of the airport at your base, and call and ask them if they offer crew discounts. Many do, but some don’t. I did a crashpad for a few months and then left the place for various reasons, mainly so I could get some actual sleep. Never looked back. I found some hotels in the CLT area that although aren’t the best in terms of quality and cleanliness like what the company would put you up in, they get the job done and have pretty good rates compared to other AA bases. The surrounding areas may be a little sketch but the hotel managers do a good job of keeping criminals off the property. Never had any problems with crime. Just don’t go to the absolute cheapest hotel in town. You will find all kinds of illegal criminal activity going on at places like rodeway inn, econolodge, motel 6, etc. Find a place that has a shuttle service and a breakfast. Eventually you will find one that works for you.
CLT hotels are a little more on the cheaper end than say DCA. DFW I’m not familiar with, but imagine it’s not much different than CLT.

I strongly discourage the use of crashpads, but if you absolutely need one, what the previous poster said is where you need to look.

I mean, if we’re talking NYC area, and he HAS to do the crashpad thing, then yea, you pretty much have no choice but to do the pad. No getting around that. That place is the exception. The majority of other airline bases? I’d go with hotels.

Yeah not super interested in crash pads but looking at options. I like my space so hotels work better. I used CrewTel in the past but asking for crew rates sound good. I heard you can use BizHero if need be for personal use at company rates?
