I don't know about DFW because I don't follow it, but the situation in CLT is a little more unique. It's a small 737 base and large Airbus base, so every now and then the 737 will have no movement while the Airbus does and spots get filled with junior folks.

As an aside I'd be ~35% on 737 and ~60% on 320 in CLT, ~40% on 737 and ~50% on Airbus in DFW.

So CLT seems like it still has a fairly large split between equipment.

It's only a 2 year lock-in, less for newbies. If your seniority gets that out of whack on one fleet vs the other fleet bid the other fleet.

The issue with this is once withheld you can't bid anything else or MBE. Chances are the relative seniority disparity will correct itself before the withheld period ends.

It isn't the end of the world but it is irritating to watch people junior to you have vastly different schedules and QoL in the same base. Things in CLT are finally shaking out and normalizing. I'm not sure what's happening in other bases.

Right??! One of the recently vacancy runs had the “ future staffing levels” in MIA well over 400. The 3XP for March has us at 300 which is around 170 below where we were back this time last year. 🤷‍♂️

I’d say as long as we still have NH classes, that’s always a plus.

What is the actual withheld period? I was glancing over the last few vacancy awards and it appears the withheld period is at the company’s discretion. The contractual seat lock period is basically a joke. Low on my priority list of contractual items that need to be addressed, but it’s a joke.

The 3xp for March 2026 MIA320 shows 301 FO and 412 CA. How does that make any sense?

12 months from the effective date of the award so it's longer than a year in practice. They usually enforce it when moving between bid statues that pay the same. But you are correct, they can ignore it and let someone go early if they wish.

Sounds like 100 new hires will be going to MIA 320 over the next few months. But it's also possible 50 CAs go to other bases.

Our vacancy system isn't setup to provide any forward transparency. Bid what you want and cross your fingers.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. 100 pilots short in MIA 320 FO for March 2026, and they still haven't been filling those slots. This is going to get interesting.
