But hey, now we’re talking about the real quality of life issues lol. Get home every once in a while to see the wife and kids? Nah, f that and those guys, can’t fly the 73. That’s for Boeing peasants.

I say all this as a guy typed on both and working on the 320 here. Though in my defense as an unrepentant seniority wh*re (since seniority *is* QOL at AA), I'm in the one base where the 320 is - AFAIK - junior, and I’d fly a clapped out DC-3 or a 414 if it paid $217 an hour+ and got me the schedule I want.

It’s a job - nothing more, nothing less. The particular office? Nearly meaningless. And this job is far better and far more lucrative than many of the alternatives.

Agreed brother. A job is a job, and if the process was more straight forward, I’d bid 737. But waiting for a vacancy, plus getting withheld for 12 months….it takes forever. And at that point, either upgrade or WB is here.

Seniority difference is crazy, but also the trip quality. WHY? That I don’t know. But 737 trips are way way better. XLR may change that I guess.

Yeah the trip quality piece is a headscratcher, and it’s very real in MIA, but the seniority difference despite the trip quality difference says a lot about what airframe you might consider for upgrade.

Get why you’d avoid GSW between now and then. Hopefully the junior upgrade would take about the amount of time you’d be withheld.

It sure is real in MIA  But I guess seniority fixes almost everything. 31XXX and living right by the airport is my recipe to overcome the drama lol. Summer has been tough though, August looks much better, I traded down to 7 days of work, and the rest I'll be waiting for those last minute trips.

I think being a senior FO rather than a junior CA is the way togo, for me. Once you can hold a line, sure. On the other hand, I can't wait to go back to WB flying. It's always good to have options.

Everyone with January CJOs seem to have gotten the email to update drug screening in late June. I’d reach out to Recruiting if you haven’t gotten any emails to get drug tested or update your app.

Are there any updates to this info? Feb CJO, drug screening and background check complete late June, crickets on a class date.

They’ve been making calls for classes, most recent is some 1/29 CJOs in for the 10 Sept class.

320LAX here, currently waiting on 320DFW. Commute’s pretty easy—lots of flights daily, including two redeyes home. Not ideal after a long day, but at least you're going home.

SCR wasn’t bad from a commuting standpoint. I’d bid the 1500 RAP start, catch the 1115 flight, and land at LAX around 1300. I’d hang out in the crew room until 1500 to see if anything popped up. If not, off to the crash pad.

Most of my trips ended later in the day, so I usually got home a day early. If duty off was past 2200, they couldn’t use me the next day. Sure, that meant a redeye, but beggars can’t be choosers.

LCR can work from DFW. Proffering and managing your start time is key.

As for the fastest route to DFW? No one really knows. It’s a crapshoot. There were some entitlement awards for 737DFW in the February 2025 class vacancy awards, but on the flip side, company projections show 320DFW growing by 10% next summer.

All that said—take it for what it is: just one person’s take.
