Theoretically, maybe. But like the number 1 guy is happy doing and transcons, and believed (based on zero information), that he would still get to do them, with an occasional trip to europe. Probably wrong there… Another was surprised by the “shortness” of the layover in EDI. Apparently they didnt bother to look at other fleet’s trip construction…

Just taking a look at the JFK-EDI times.. get in at 730am and leave at 1125am next day? Need to know who is shocked that 27 hours in EDI is short

Apparently a lot of guys are ****ed about going to LGA320INTCA and are going to bid back to domestic this vacancy.

Can they do that? Aren't they locked in?

EDIT: I mean stuck withheld

Not baffling at all. Senior bubbas want in to get the AE qual, then get bought off and double dip.

Correct. I'm curious to see how much trouble they are going to have getting back out.

Correct. I'm curious to see how much trouble they are going to have getting back out after they get the qual.

How do they know the transcons will stay domestic and not go international? Looks like 320 LGA international is going to have a lot of staffing, so must be more than just the EDI flights. Looks like FO went very junior and they posted 50 more vacancies...might be worth commuting for

Why would they have trouble getting out? They can bid LGA/D or any other base on any vacancy. They aren’t seat locked into the 320LGA/I bid status. Pilots will bid in to get the AE qual, then bid back to another base and MO pickup a few Europe trips here and there.

I would guess that LGA/I will be all Europe and transcons will stay in LGA/D. They will want plenty of reserves in LGA/I as to not cancel any XLR Europe flights bc of crew, extra LGA/I reserves can also cover LGA/D trips but no vice versa.

If there are no vacancies then in a way they are stuck.

That’s true with every category, you think with 800 retirements a year there won’t be ANY 320 vacancies!? They can also MBE out, you don’t need the AE qual to MBE into the bid status.
