What a terrible situation to be in. It sounds like you did the right thing though. I'm wondering what can be done to better inform the passengers and general public of the pilot's point of view on the issue.
To be honest, TMoney, I don't think it matters anymore. The PR damage has been done. It's irreparable, but thankfully, it isn't a battle the pilots need to win. Sure in the short term, it would create a more pleasant environment, but, these guys on the flight deck have their eyes focussed on the end game.
Management have to contend with the PR fight. And the pilot fight. Either one have the power to bring AA to its knees. If Horton wants his $60,000,000, Management eventually have to capitulate to a level acceptable to both groups.
Amen. Stay strong, keep the cockpit door closed. And keep doing very thorough preflights to ensure EVERYTHING about those AA jets is safe, right through the holidays.
