What is the point of paying your dues at a regional for a decade or more, (in Eagles case, many are at 2 decades+).. only to FINALLY get to a mainline carrier that pays absolute garbage all over again in group 1. Now what, we have to pay our dues all over again if AA loads up on a boatload of 190's? Another 5-10yrs of crap wages? I'm all for the 190's being at AA. Really, I am.. (that is "IF" they paid a decent, respectable mainline wage) Problem is they don't, they don't even pay anywhere near what Jetblue pays, so they may as well just be at a regional. So when people finally make it to a career airline after YEARS of sacrifice to get there, they don't get stuck starting all over again for years, wasting the critical remaining years of earning power at pathetic wages.

Yeah... I almost fell off my chair laughing, negotiate the pay upwards "later". I have been around this company long enough to know that will never happen. That pay group will forever be garbage now that the precedent has been set. They majority will never waste the negotiating power to ever even worry about it because they don't really care. ie; "already got theirs".. just like the first year pay issue.. (nobody truly cares because the people already on property are immune). So it always gets put aside to be fixed "later".. and by later, I mean NEVER.

Call it flame bait if you wish. It's the truth.
One of the most stupid statements I've ever read on this forum.

I am afraid that you may need to look at the bigger picture.

Hypothetical question:

Let's say the AA/ US merger is announced; US Airways is currently hiring. Assume the AA side works through the recalls and begins hiring. Which is the quicker path to being based in DFW? Getting hired on the AA side, or on the US side?
Reply
I'd say just get hired and worry about it later. AA side would probably be faster because there will likely be a fence to keep AA/US bases protected for a period of time.

First, he'll need to borrow it from someone else, because I don't think he has the big picture.

On the Allied Pilots Association members only website, it shows that all furloughees and Eagle flow-throughs will be on AA property by June.

(This does not include people who deferred or those on a Military Leave of Absence)

It also shows that the training academy plans to ramp up production from 50 per month to 70-80 per month starting in August.

They will have to hire someone to fill those classes.

Of course, things could change with a merger. But, either way, they will still need to hire in the near future.

So what's the speculation of the duration of this "fence"?...........any guesses

Anyone who speculates on the nature of the seniority integration, fences, domicile restrictions, etc., is just pulling a guess out of their posterior. NOBODY KNOWS, period.

If you want some particular base, just get on the property. AA is rapidly recalling furloughs, and US is hiring. If the merger occurs, the US hiring will pause and those positions will be offered to AA furloughees. Once the furloughees are exhausted (either to AA or to US), hiring in earnest on both sides will resume.

As Billy Crystal said, "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." That applies to airline jobs as well as women.

And yes, I realize I just lost some man cred for quoting a chick flick, but if the shoe fits ...

BS,

When you say Eagle flow throughs will be done by June, are you referring to those left on property with AA seniority numbers?
