You're right, what the heck are they thinking. They do all he hard work of transforming the company along with the efforts and sacrifice of the employees of AA and then they're expected to turn over the keys to a team with no skin in the game! Yep, you're right, they should just roll over and let Mr Parker and his team have it all on a silver platter!
I truly hope it works out well for all of us, but just to keep an accurate accounting, we should put this thread in a time capsule for a historical perspective in 5 years.

Tom's moment was that first news conference at DFW upon the announcement of chapter 11. That was his opportunity to make a good first impression and draw labor in closer as a critical asset, instead of pushing them farther away.
He blew it.

So here's their big chance to emerge from the lost decade with a big announcement, a fresh start, a partner with which to take on the industry - a lot of PR potential, I'd say. And what do they do? F it up with delays, missed opportunities and press releases that expose what's really at stake here - management egos and bonuses.
