Default New AA paint scheme short lived?

I listened to the analyst luncheon and one of them asked about branding and the paint scheme. Kirby walked around it by saying the AA brand was one of the best know and we would keep it. The questioner told him that he didn't address the paint scheme and he said something to the effect of "I know, I was well coached."

I'm not a fan. As for everything else it sounds like unless there is a really compelling reason to change it will be the AA way. They said they learned from the US/AW that it is easier to get the smaller group changed. I hope they just keep the AA uniform, wings etc.

So, you think they didn't know about this merger last month when they announced the paint scheme? Seems to me that the new paint was just a precursor for today. The new AA tail already resembles the USAir tail.

I assumed that since the baby Airbus fleet starts to arrive soon that they started the new scheme long before AA management decided to get onboard withe merger.

The new tail resembles every tail that has ever been on an airliner!

We'll see. He may have said it the way he did to head off critics.

I imagine it will stay. At least until they've heard enough about how the majority of people don't like it. I really liked their classic eagle logo. It was modern & vintage at the same time. I kind of like the new color of the paint (looks like a pearl white ?), but didn't they not paint the planes to save on fuel costs for all those years, or is that just something I've heard around the web..?

The Airbus has to be painted, so I'm guessing that drove the decision.

Most of the new airplanes AA ordered are composite. You can't polish plastic.

Correct. The new livery was developed with this in mind. It was absolutely known. It is here to stay for a while. I like it!

Ahh yes. Both of which I didn't even consider.
