How about starting with the Officers that pushed the give away to Carty. In fact a quote about the trustworthiness of the Don comes to mind.

Jim Philpot, John Darrah, Ralph Hunter to name a few. Some others have retired, Ed White. These were key players. Darrah got played big time.

History is a "B" especially when it comes to APA. From the very beginning APA has been played by AA management with far to many APA officers and BOD members "moving up" after their time at APA. Management is adept at luring these gullible folks in with "confidentiality agreements" making sure the APA official feels more affinity to being in the know just like management rather than being kept in the dark like the lowly line scum. When my APA rep tried to tell me he knew more than me, I reminded him that he was MY rep and that his job was to keep all of us up to date and in the loop. His reply was an arrogant tisk tisk as he walked away, to good to spend any more time with a mere ignorant line pilot.

What management jobs did they, or do they, have?

And he said "most".

Philpot filled some bs management position for customer satisfaction ( he was the previous DFW chairman )

Darrah was the APA president at the time, he was a very junior Captain. He then became a check airman, and still is to this day. He never had to work under the BS reserve system that was put in place.

Hunter was also an APA president, after Darrah, that signed away the minimum captain seats, and wanted to continue to give to the company. He is now a check airman too.

Bob Johnson, former APA negotiator from the '97 time frame, Orcas Island, went into several management positions.

We are our own worst enemies when it comes to holding the union line.

Bob Johnson - shack.

Phipot? Ha. Like a customer experience volunteer slot is the way to influence at AA?

Darrah and Hunter gave away XYZ? NO's chair the meeting where the BOD votes. BOD can, and has, kicked NO's out of BOD meetings. NO's are the power brokers guys make them out to be.

Darrah never had to sit reserve? You might want to check what he held from 2004-07. 2008? He was able to hold a line.

The list you provided is a long way from "most". One(Jophnson), one guy in a putz job, two CKA(debatable).

And what management job did Ed White have?

Sliceback,

Philpot was a big proponent of the 2003 give backs, then promptly left for management. Regardless of what you say he was part of the problem.

Darrah was directly involved with the negotiations in 2003. He came to the DFW meeting bragging about the crappy contract that we were going to vote on. He played stud poker with the big boys and got beat. The problem is he was playing with our money not just his! As to his status, he has been a Check Airman for a while, he may have sat on this system for a bit, so I take back that statement.

Hunter was repaid for pushing the give backs that got squashed just prior to him getting voted out of office.

You sound a bit like a management lackie. If I am reading that wrong I apologize, if not well...

Ed White always looked out for Ed White period end of story.

2 or 3 guys =/= "most."

IMO, the APA genuinely worked very hard, fought hard, for its members. They have been simply shackled by the RLA, Bill Clinton, Judge Lane, economic realities, etc etc.

Sliceback 03-11-2013 10:10 AM

justfun - you're whiffing on the allegations about APA's leadership being rewarded with management jobs. So you shift to the personal attack. Strike three.
