Default FOX NEWS reporting Virgin America anti-deal

Fox News reporting "breaking news" and anchors all having coronary's that Virgin America is filing a motion with the court against the deal.

Excuse me while I yawn. This is a strategic manuever by Virgin, if the merger is approved (which most people feel it will be), then Virgin can stand in line for slots which is "deserves" per their on-the-record complaint against the merger

BACK TO REGULAR PROGRAMMING

Let me guess, it's one of those "we think it's a bad deal unless we get dca slots, then it's a great deal".

Yes exactly. Everyone is "going on record" because if they don't, when it is time to grab ex-AA slots, they may be asked "and your ticket to the slot ball, where is it?"

Uh uh duh uh

remember if it is not documented, it does not exist

(Expect Branson to come on CNBC/Bloomberg/etc and play cry me a river. he may even dab a handkerchief to his eyes)

It's sad all the bottom feeder airlines see using the government as the only way they can expand into the better market. Take from those that have and give to those that have not. It's what the government does best.

well the government DE-REGULATED the industry and as a result, Peoples Express, Texas International, Trump Airways, Morris, to some extent Reno and Valujet, etc were born out of that. A bunch of dudes got flight time in the meantime. So.....

By the way, the industry was de-regulated due to a push by democratic senators and signed off by Carter, a democrat. Flash forward to the current climate, and Obama and company whack-jobs are basically "regulating" things again via DOJ and using the guise of that. So that shows you how the parties have come around. Obama is REGULATING healthcare basically under the guise of Obamacare and creating all sorts of reforms and hoops that local home town doctor must jump thru. Etc. soapboxing sorry.

Obama is not a dummy. He is a Harvard Grad. His IQ is not in question. He will never come out and be caught saying "I want additional regulation" as this is career suicide. However the word "reform" is accepted and associated to "lets improve things" and this has been tossed around alot. However, under Obama, Reform = Regulation. Healthcare, Firearms Laws, "Big Business practices", "unfair" (???) salaries by Wall Street types, etc. etc

Later, thread drift. Back on target

This might be a bit of a stretch. There was no govt regulation motive to merge dal/nwa, ual/cal, or aa/us. This is about money, and those decisions are being made at the board of directors level. Yes we've come full circle, but they majors have realized you can be too big to fail, so grow or fail I guess...

Correct. However the current administration via Holder does NOT want (without some sort of fight or slot giveaway anyway) the AMR/LCC merger.
