The hat will take its place in my bag underneath my dirty underwear

Awesome.

AA is a legacy airline and hats are a legacy feature.

This merger should allow more AA pilots to take more pride in their work and spend a little more money and time on their uniform... no?

Yes, a great opportunity for the pilots to spend more money on their uniforms. Promote this man to management, stat!

Seriously, this is all just wild rumor, they haven't made any uniform decisions. IMHO hats are unlikely to be required, that ship has sailed. And the "New American" aesthetic is trying to be more modern.

On Wings somewhere, it was put up awhile ago, had interviews with the dinks that are designing the new threads. Showed a pilot in a blue-ish double-breasted jacket. Nothing was official on it, I just hope it doesn't go that way. We're not in the military. You can look sharp if you want to, I believe it's more of a personal decision.

I would take as many wrist-slaps as possible before wearing a hat. Either way it's better than LOA 93 for the foreseeable future!

Double breasted suits? Hats? I'm not a limo driver! I say go with a standard type uniform suit for winter, and in the summer when its 100 + degrees in DFW, polo shirts and khakis. Too darn hot for ties. I'm all about comfort. People can't see us behind a door anyway.

That has my vote for damn sure

I know for a fact that a recent new hire class was told that the uniform would be a double breasted jacket and hats. Hopefully itll change before they roll them out

Pay me enough and I'll wear a "hat strategically dipped below one eye" - better yet pay me enough and pay for the hat as well. Beats the heck out of the duct tape I'm using now.

Agreed. While its easy to make fun of Delta pilots for several reasons they all for the most part look sharp in their uniforms. If this is going to be the biggest best airline, our uniforms should reflect that IMHO.
