Default Livery - tail in particular

What ever happened to that vote on the livery for the combined fleet? Are they going to get rid of the Captain America tail colors? I like the new pearl-grey scheme but the tail...

According to the vote, everyone liked the new paint, so it's staying. We've already started to paint the US aircraft.

That's only because the public had two choices...the new scheme, and a bastardized version of it with the new logo up front and the old logo on the tail. The "alternative" looked sloppy and not well thought out, so the newAA livery won. But I did see some pretty decent ideas thrown around out there on the internets by a few creative minds...

"Everyone" makes it sound like a conspiracy which might be your intent. Actual vote reported as something like 55-45.

No conspiracy. I was just remembering what I heard. Perhaps, I should have put it in quotes or said the majority. Now that you said that, I do remember it being close. My sincerest apologies.

I, too, wished the old paint or the Eagle would have stayed. However, the new paint is growing on me.

I think the main driver behind letting go the old livery is the intro of the composite jets. Apparently there are parts of those airplanes that aren't polished aluminum or have to be painted. I was surprised they let go of the tried-and-true "AA" and eagle that everyone is familiar with. And it's almost like the "alternative" livery people could vote for was sloppy on purpose so mgt could say "look! The people spoke! They love the new paint job!"

All aside, I'll agree the new paint is growing on me, and it's definitely attention-getting, which will help defeat any perception that AA is an airline behind-the-times.
