Hearing a lot of No
 
I figured this was a done deal for a passing vote. The majority of guys I speak with are either a no or a yes changing to a no. I think a lot of guys are getting worried about the bum's rush to a vote.

I've noticed a huge shift of "yes" guys changing their mind to "no." A few weeks ago I would have guessed 70/30, now it seems more like 30/70.

Who knows what will happen, I still have 90% of the guys I fly with or encounter on the line tell me they voted no for the mou.

Can't be possible with the margin it passed by.

I have a few friends at AA...their opinion is it will be close...probably more like 50/50. In the past there was always a lot of angry ranting and claims of voting no but in the end some of those people voted yes. At this point I have no idea which way it will go. In either case, I'm prepared to either have our current work rules with the previously-agreed to MTA pay rates, or have pretty much the same work rules with a higher pay rate. I am not holding out for an 11th hour change of heart by PK, although it would be nice if it turned out that way. History seems to show that they typically do not bend, at least not on the bigger issues.

I'm sure a good portion of the yes voters are keeping it to themselves. Why would they want to open themselves up to all the slander like what you see on this site? I've seen the silent majority surprise folks on several occasions at my old airline, so I wouldn't get TOO excited.

2003 the wailing was ALL NO! And if it wasn't NO! it was FXXX NO!!!.

It passed 69-31.

Guys routinely say "I've never met a Yes voter." When the Yes's are 70-75% of their peers there's a reason no one wants to talk to *them* about the vote.

Everyone will get the answer when the vote is done.

I flew with a captain recently that was a sound no, and not only no, but a "no all the time...screw those management guys!"

I did not tell him that in this particular instance I lean towards supporting the proposal. It wasn't worth making a trip miserable to argue over stuff like that. I did ask him why he would vote no, and he told me it's because he doesn't want Parker to "win". That was his main reason.

The other captains I've flown with were mostly yes guys. Only one said he was voting yes simply because he wanted the money and was going to retire. The others voiced concerns similar to mine...that we will not fair well in arbitration and PK's track record is to not give in to labor...they haven't done it yet and they aren't about to start now with several other contracts to go.

I think it still favors a yes vote, but not by that much. It will be interesting to see what impact the BOD/NC's attitude is in the coming weeks and the final language. If it passes, in 2020 there will be many of the same varied rationalizations for capitulation then as we hear now. AA pilots have a long history of giving in and in 2020 there will be no catharsis or epiphany. The U turn is made here or we go off the cliff.
