Airbus A321LR to Replace Boeing 757
#11
With our 757s rapidly timing out, there's really no other option out there other than the A321neoLR for a 757 replacement. I'm pretty sure we'll order a few down the road. The good news is most of the 767 flying will be replaced by the A350 and 787, both of which are Group IV aircraft.

We get paid a substantial amount more now under Group II then had we voted no, and magically the 75/76 fleet remained and you transferred to that equipment.
So, not sure what all the fuss is about. Just more whining and excuses for not wanting to do your job!

LAA 757s will stay in the fleet for a bit longer. I think retirement in about 5 years or so? The 767-300s will remain for a little longer too but they will be gone sooner.
And I agree. Voting no would not have prevented the company from buying 321LRs. The 757s are gonna have to go someday, and that day is rapidly approaching for many in the fleet. Voting no would only have kept all the pay scales lower, and we'd ultimately wind up with LRs at some point anyway.

Aww......you're spoiling their fun. It's fun to be king of the hill and why not enjoy it ?
Eventually, they'll see what it cost them, but for now some of the "chest-pounders" must rejoice !!!

If Boeing would build a revised 757 with an updated wing and geared fans it would crush the A321 LR.
Estimates of geared fan efficiency put it's range around 5,000 nm. That's what the market needs.

That's a true statement. The A321neoLR is really the only new-build alternative forcing many airlines to buy them over what they really want...a new version of the 757.

Just wait till Airbus racks up a couple hundred orders for the LR...Boeing will realize it made a huge mistake putting a 757 replacement on the back-burner to focus on 737MAX designs.
I grew up in St Louis when McDonnell-Douglas existed, and although they hail from St Louis, that management team infiltrated Boeing and unfortunately the same policies that brought us warmed over MD products is going to screw up the once-industry leading Boeing line.
