Default How hard is it to drop trips at AA?

I met an AA guy once that said he dropped half his month and only made one commute a very long distance.
Not realistic at my current airline. They simple deny stuff.
If a person wasn't concerned about pay loss is that something that is realistic?

If you have good trips you can drop all of them. If you have lousy trips, on weekends, holidays, etc, it's harder.

You can't just get rid of them. As soon as the schedules are final you post them 'below the line.' The 'line' splits open time and trips posted for drops. Trips below the line can be traded by direct contact before trip trading starts several days later. Once trip trading starts you don't need to make direct contact with the pilot posting the trip.

Even with lousy trips it's not uncommon to trade 1/4 to 1/2 of your trips for open time trips using the trip trading system.

Is this a workable system? Not having this is a fear of mine. 90% of the time you can dump your drips for better a better one on LUS. I have heard nightmare stories of being stuck with a crappy schedule at LAA. Wasn't sure if it was true.

Why do you want to drop everything with no concern for money?

Need a hobby?

If you are in PHX, it is extremely hard to drop anything.

Staffing makes all days every month artificially "negative staffing" (it's an arbitrary process with no oversight) so you can't do jack with your schedule.
