Cactus's last stand
Outside of legacy US Air pilots, many of you may not realize that we are in the last hours of hearing the Cactus call sign. Aircraft will no longer be dispatched under it as of 0700Z tonight.
I wish I were flying tomorrow to constantly hear aircraft saying "Cact---American XXXX" all day long. Most of the captains I've spoken to have sworn to me they're so ready to be done with that call sign, they won't make the mistake even one time. We'll see. |

Sonny. Ha. My suggestion had far more to do with your attitude on life than your age. But I'll be sure to mark my calendar for 2025...

"American...." My ears are tickled. :D |
Hopefully this is one more big step for everyone involved to get over it, quit whining, and move on with life.

call sign
Whatever, the cactus call sign was stupid, petty thing and a royal pain in the ass, especially when you flew to Europe and your callsign doesn't match whats written on the side of your aircraft, oh, that's right, the originators of that regional-esque "cat*ss" call sign didn't have to deal with that...

Eastholes and Westicles. Hopefully in 10-15 years, the new FOs will have no idea what those terms even mean.

Maybe but this is the worst I have ever seen. Republic/NWA pails in comparison and I do mean PAILS! In that merger there was not a calculated effort on the part of either party to bring harm to the other. The arbitrator made his ruling and that was that folks HONORED IT even when they did not like or agree with the ruling. The position that was taken by the LUS East pilots have destroyed any change of rebuilding trust. That ship has sailed and I firmly believe that bitterness and hatred will linger on for years 2030 is my best guess.

WD at AWA I'm not bitter at all, so speak for yourself. I'm moving up the Captain list quite fast, I'm getting great pay and the ride looks smooth for the rest of MY career. It's all about ME and the Company, now. So when you're HATRED boils over in 2020 I'll be saluting you from the Cockpit while you're out walking the picket line trying to explain to the passengers how overpaid and underworked you are. |

The "arbitrator" gave them what sould have happened here...equal treatment for equal time. I will NOT agree with my time given less value than yours. PERIOD. Unionism is gone for good here because now the company knows everyone is REQUIRED to follow the SOP's and the law (FAA). The profession is out of the unions hands and that is a new realty that you and them have yet to come to grips with.

Talk to the republic that are left and see if they feel the way you do! I can guarantee they do NOT. Neither republic nor NWA was bankrupt Usair WAS. Neither Republic nor NWA had nearly 40% of their pilots furloughed Usair DID! Don't use the word equal. Nothing at all about the east has been equal. You have lied, cheated and stolen and gotten away with it from help from that drunken pig Ed Bular. Now because a REAL union is back you are crying foul wanting to pack up your marbles and not play anymore. Well I am all for that in your case and support you 100% in fact I think you should not pay a penny in dues to APA. STOP PAYING TODAY! Call them and tell them how you feel and that you should be allowed to continue to screw over and entire airlines pilots, the very ones that SAVED you from certain furlough! No matter how you slice it you are employed today for no other reason than AMERICA WEST AIRLINES. Now you think about that for a while, NO OTHER REASON. WD at AWA |

WD at AWA With the run-up in fuel prices you needed the liquidity provided by the merger. You were a year away from being insolvent. AMERICA WEST HOLDINGS CORP - 10-K Annual Report - 12/31/2004 The financing for the merger and subsequent liquidity came from outside the airline. America West contributed nothing to the merger. Neither did US Airways. It was an outside deal, just like the US-AA one. Incidentally, it's most likely why Dough & CO. have been purchasing stock. It's a dumb investment but temp. pops the stock (or keeps it up) allowing the UCC members to offload their allotment and GTFO. I'm not sure why you guys are so mad. You won the career lottery. |

99% of those involved at America West, US Airways, and American have it better today than they would've had the mergers not happened. They're making more money, have a more secure future, and have a better retirement than if their airlines had gone it alone. |

I love the irony that you're attacking our favorite drunken pig Ed Bular on this post because it's Ed that switch the call sign from USAir to cactus after hearing a PHX female 75 f/o's cry and whine about how they lost all their identity even their call sign, I know I was there.
BTY it's "pale" not "pail" a "pail" is something you carry all your tears in. now go dump it out, replace it with money and move the hell on. |
