I said to self several months ago I would lurk but not post. Well I'll have to break my "silence" if only to say JUST WHAT YOU SAID. The "seniority issue" has broken the back of pilot labor throughout the industry and the way I see it come 2020 you'll take what you're given or leave. Go on strike (or try to) and see what happens. I don't know (and I don't care really) what the "VP" letter contains. It's no secret to the Company because they already know (and have access to the APA info behind the scenes anyway) so YOUR cards have been PLAYED.
I love this Company, I love my job and I'm doing it as long as they'll have me. After ALPA, USAPA and AOL.....with "pilot" friends like that what good is unity. Have a great career. I know I am!!! |
I'm all for a switch back to ALPA. Always have been, always will be.
Management's biggest wet dream is to sit across the negotiating table from a small independent association with very little political pull. Hence the reason why AA pilots have historically never gotten a real industry leading contract. Read Confessions of a union buster...it's all spelled out in that book. For that reason alone, I'm a huge ALPA fan. |
Do you think APA and the AA pilots didn't go through changes?
BK tends to do that. How much of the contract, ignoring the BK impact, was because the union was dealing with two mgt teams? It's hard to negotiate one path with one mgt group and another way with a second mgt group. |
It makes sense but old decadent organizations do not change their stripes. A reconstituted ALPA with new faces as a successor and new mission statement would be fantastic

That no longer exists (except also as another myth on paper) and so regardless of who is playing the same game, the outcome is certain. |
What was the last thing ALPA's "political will" did for any of us?
Make sure age 65 happened? |

Doug and especially Jerry know this new pilot group is hopelessly fragmented and will be even more so once the SLI is complete however it goes. LUS will always be at war as if the Nic is used the East will be outraged. If it is not, the West will be seething. If either side of the LUS equation feels the LAA pilots got too good of a deal (something at or very close to the AAPSIC's proposal), both will hate the LAA pilots while STILL at war with each other as regardless of that, one side at LUS is going to get the shaft (Nic/no Nic). TWA will have a chip on their shoulder to they all go horizontal and our leadership is a directing a rudderless ship shouting from the shore. The biggest detriment of all is the abject apathy most of the pilots demonstrate.

He could rob a bank as far as I care. Big deal. Doesn't change the fact that he bared the soul of the dark side and that's all the info I need. Management's biggest enemy is a united pilot front - it's been proven over and over again. They laugh their a$$ off in front of associations like APA and USAPA.
