plan was to create a large (?) 767 base in PHL and move A330's to MIA. Doesn't sound implausible but still encompasses moving plenty of pilots and airplanes around. It would have to be after the SLI, I presume, and the displacements would be crazy. IMO it does make some sense that the higher capacity 330s would be sent south freeing up 777s for the pacific while the 757/767 could take-up the slack with lighter loads and shorter ranges the over the atlantic.

Now with BREXIT anything is possible, but I thought Id pass it on FWIW. Also, at least on the JFK 777 routes, loads have been fairly light to Europe and back. (guessing 2/3 full on average) With June almost gone I would have thought summer travel would be in full swing. I hope its not a sign of the times.

767's to PHL and A330's to MIA rumor has been around for awhile. At least on the LUS side. We don't have that many A330's so won't be that much of an impact moving them and/or starting trips out of CLT/PHL with a DH.

At one point there was proof of the plans to move a significant amount of 767 flying to PHL. The company scheduled LUS check airmen to go to GSW for differences training, and the follow-on LUS 75 initial classes were also scheduled to attend the same clas, in the March time-frame.

Fortunately, that was stopped before it started because it was a blatant violation of the contract (pre-SLI/FOS).

Who knows what the plan du jour is now, though...

I just hope ORD remains fairly junior!

"All hands vacancy bid"? Wouldn't that cost Hundreds of Millions of dollars for training and take years to train everyone? Do you think that's realistic?

Wow. I didn't know the SLI was published. Can you tell us where to find it?

It just means cross-bidding between LAA/LUS sides for vacancies and not a system wide bump and flush displacement .

He's a fourth lister so the guys around his seniority will be slotted by DOH. So they don't need the SLI to figure where they fit in.

The downside is West Coast flying, in an industry that has the majority of it's flying of the East Coast, has bigger issues with the body clock.

Years ago a new guy was saying "guys are always complaining about the LAX flying but I've looked and they don't look that bad." I said "look at that flying and put it in body clock time." "Oh...." East Coast AM departures are ugly for West Coast guys.

Another thing to keep in mind, LAX covers 4 airports. Or is it 5?

Sliceback 06-28-2016 08:56 AM

It depends on the equipment. MIA covers three.
