I was very surprised by that message. Here's to hoping it goes well.

Would it be poor form to wear a gopro camera in the crew rooms after the list is released?

Nope.
Probably hear more irrational whining than if Trump's pilot catered his jet with a Mexican platter on Taco Tuesday.

Lol...It would probably be more welcome than an AOL tie. Regardless of who "wins" or "loses", you'll be enjoying the GoPro highlights for years. Hell, some it might just get shown in court if things get too stupid.

Here's hoping for a DFW/320 award sometime soon. But if I must commute I'm wondering...stay in DCA, or bid to MIA or LAX? Seems people with my DOH have as good or better seniority at those locations.

MIA - DFW is one of the busiest commutes.

Hmmm. I've heard that before. Maybe LAX then.

How many times does LAX go into holding or a divert operation? Or a ramp closed operation? Basically never. MIA? All the time.

The downside is West Coast flying, in an industry that has the majority of it's flying of the East Coast, has bigger issues with the body clock.

Years ago a new guy was saying "guys are always complaining about the LAX flying but I've looked and they don't look that bad." I said "look at that flying and put it in body clock time." "Oh...." East Coast AM departures are ugly for West Coast guys.

I looked up guys around my seniority in LAX and they were holding lines doing HI overnights on the 75/76. Meanwhile I'm doing 3 day red-eyes paying 10 hours on the 319.

^^^ This.

I was hired Feb 2014. I live not too far from DFW (going to move there in a year or so), but have been based in CLT and DCA. I'd still be reserve in CLT, but a secondary line holder in DCA.

Most of my months run 72-78 hours and I fly plenty of red-eyes out to the west coast and back. I average about 16-17 days of work. Commuting to DCA is a pain, particularly in the winter.

Guys with my seniority in LAX are flying about the same hour-wise, but working 13-15 days doing almost all HI island trips. I already do a lot of the west coast red eye stuff. Just off the top of my head seems going west might be a hair easier than going east, and it appears I'd have a better schedule.

I do think some of that will change once people and jets move around. It's hard to know what it'll look like. But can't hurt to give it a shot if I can't bid into DFW quickly.
