It's based on your January bid status.

If you change bid statuses you keep the same vacation.

In the past Dec/Jan buds went junior and Feb-Apr went more senior. The first cost you a more senior vacation by switching right before vacation bidding and you were in training over the big holidays. Feb-Apr bidding avoided training in the summer when most people prefer to have time off.

Bidding starts in late Jan(?). Last round is done in Feb.
In the past it's been, round one, round two, round 3-5 combined since few guys take a third, fourth or fifth vacation.

There's a letter with phone contacts on page 57.

It has been Feb to Feb for the past couple of years. Last year we bid in January. I asked the vacation folks when we'll bid this year and they said December.

If they don't take their 3/4/5th week of vacation, what do they do? Are they allowed to sell it back at the get-go?

Close the last few years it's been Mar 1-Feb 28(29)

Previously LAA vacation was May 1-April 30.

the first year (2004) it was moved Apr 1-Mar 30

PLEASE all LUS read the vacation letter thoroughly.

Vacation is done OUT of Seniority at AA.

Pilot seniority #1 bids 4 separate weeks of vacation in December.
Pilot seniority #2 same bid status Bids 4 weeks in a row in December.

Pilot#2 awarded ALL 4 weeks.

Pilot#1 not awarded Christmas week because Pilots that bid ALL 4 weeks get first choice out of seniority.

READ the Vacation Letter.

With PBS the ability to float vacation goes away.

We used to be able to Float vacation then covert it to CPA and pay it out monthly.
We can still do this until PBS takes affect for your bid status.

CPA banks go away with PBS.

Numerous bases are NOT PBS yet. MIA possibly Mar 2107 PBS or later.

I always loved the CPA banks. But the Union decided it was a free interest loan to the company.

Are you saying this goes away when all bases go on PBS?

The reason I ask is, I'm in a PBS base (CLT). I transferred 10 hours of float to my CPA bank, and then payed that 10 hours out via PVD (didn't drop any trips). I did this in Oct, worked well (won't know for sure until the 15th pay stub).

Yes, supposedly when ALL are on PBS, then no more CPA banks.

Full of luv - five rds.

If a guy with five weeks vacation takes four weeks in the first round and one week in the second round he won't use rds 3-5.

Most of the decent weeks are gone in round one. Some halfway decent, like March/April/May/Sep/Oct are available in the second round. Third round is the bottom 5%(??) that no one asked for in the first two rds.
