Having been on the AA airbus jumpseat a couple times, I didn't ask the crews, but I'm curious, why do you guys not have some sort of case for your ipads? And I was also surprised to see that it just sits loose in a tray. I'm assuming that it had to be approved and blessed by the feds, but I would have guessed that bad turbulence/hard landings could bounce the ipad out of the tray?
The otterbox defender cases we are given for ours make the ipad feel indestructible, but man, if it doesn't also make them heavy and bulky.

I don't care a whole lot one way or the other, but I wish they would decide to standardize with lock-in thing or tray thing.....
I'm not too concerned about the ipad flying around. If we hit turb so hard that thing flies anywhere, I'd be crying too hard to care...

As to the old Airbus with the tray that just loosely supports the iPad. I thought the same as you,but have never had an issue, it has never come close to falling out. The real threat (for both styles) is the window shade snapping down.

That's all interesting. I guess if it works then it works. The bean counters would be complaining by now if it didn't.
I just figured we were given our bomb-proof otterboxes because they expected us to treat them like a 5 year old treats it's toys.

You need to reconstruct your iPad and it’s a serious process. If you can get through it in less tha 4 hours, you’d set some kind of record.
(Not talking about the loner iPad which comes with the very basics, I’m talking about reconstructing everything. It’s a PITA.)

We don’t even have a holder or mount on 190. Some sliding table that goes over the chart holder on window.not secured. Last trip. (1st trip) that whole thing came crashing into my lap and on to the floor twice w gusty winds on app. My “new” iPad is dinged up good now. Heard they didn’t want to spend money to get a mount approved cause the plane is going away. On my 2nd sheet of tempered glass already! Got the cheap stuff online $7 for 2.

ProCase iPad 9.7 Case 2018 / 2017 iPad Case - Stand Folio Cover Case for Apple iPad 9.7 inch, Also Fit iPad Air 2 / iPad Air -Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0777KBLKX..._waYkBbFTGQPX1
I highly recommend this one. It doesn’t slip in the holder and it has a slot on the cover that I put my checklists in. It’s perfect.

I am Very Happy we have iPads, and not some horrible cheap AAss tablet. That being said, I was going to get a nice case for my company iPad, and then I saw the FedEx and SWA cases and I said newp.
If they wanted me to have a nice case as opposed to a $5 generic foam case the company scrounged for, then I’d have been issued one.
I’m not spending any money on company owned equipment. Not judging if you get a nice case, but I have watched many a Capt take a long time getting their iPads in and out of their cases to put it in the window holder, invariably stretching out their $50-75 cases. YMMV
Also, I hope everyone read the new TOS with iOS11 on their iPads concerning “enterprise device supervision” and what they (companies) can, and can’t do. IOS11 gave the company (well, all enterprise iOS devices) tons of new features. Quite eye-opening. I no longer keep anything on the iPad that I wouldn’t want the AA IT (yeah, that’s supposedly a real thing) department to have access to including texts and pictures. Just because you have your Apple ID on there doesn’t mean you control it anymore. Previous iOS the company had to physically have the device to see what you were doing - now it’s all able to be remotely supervised. Does AA do this? I doubt it but...
BTW - When are we getting new iPads? Mine is getting sloooooowwwwwww.

Don’t use my work iPad for much personal stuff but like you said get a personal one if you want it for personal.

It was an iOS system message that came up right after the iOS11 upgrade. Has nothing to do with AA/mobiControl, it’s build in the actual os.
AAnywaay... they can see and remotely monitor anything now (if they choose). Apple genius guy I talked to said that before iOS11 you couldn’t monitor remotely - you actually had to have the iPad in hand to see what employees were doing.
