Southern Air 737’s??
I know this has been discussed on previous southern posts, but you never know what to believe. What’s the deal with their 737’s, are they losing them all? Interviewing with 1800 TT and 300 SIC on a CRJ. Any insight on making the jump? Flying cargo at night definitely interests me, and I’m obviously over a year out from upgrading at my regional. Thanks in advance for the insight

Stay where you are, upgrade, get your 1000 TPIC. Many more doors will be opened for you. Don’t rush off to Southern.
|
Would it be worth a 777 type? Would be hoping to move onto somewhere else from the right seat, possibly a major if I got lucky. But upgrade times at southern aren’t a huge issue for me cause I’d hope to be out within a year or 2 anyways.

If you don’t already have 1,000 TPIC, don’t come to Southern/Atlas. This is coming from someone who enjoys the job more than most.

Please tell me that it hasn't gotten so bad that Southern would consider someone with 1800 TT in the right seat of the 777? |
Well they haven’t really talked about equipment yet, just throwing the 777 out there if they offer it. I mean it would be kinda messed up for them to hire me into the 737 when they literally just sold all of them.

Yeah, I'm sure an airline would never do that. Please take the advice of everyone on here. If you're currently flying turbine equipment and some type of upgrade is in sight within the next few years. Stay where you are. Go to the interview for the experience if you must. But just remember Southern will need pilots until the last day when those Airplanes are transferred. |
You are new! Airlines hire until the day they furlough!
You may even get the privilege of being day one in class, and then laid off. Just think, you can start all over again at the same regional you just left! Hahaaa good luck!! I’m so glad I escaped!!! |
If a major is your goal, 737 at Southern (which is probably the worst aviation job in the 121 world right now) is not the way to go. Fly your tail off at your regional, and upgrade.
you’ll make way more money in the process and can fly a 777 one day at a real airline |
