It may benefit all of our pilots hitting near the stroke of midnight which collectively sounds reasonable as not everyone can be appeased, but zerozero’s example does show some bias towards the left coast. It may be a middle ground narrative although I like Dera’s point; either pay up front or pay in the rear schedule wise. Granted, in the end it’s purely subjective per the individual’s circumstance living at base or one stop, two step commuting, day sleeper, night owl, kids in bed, Yellowstone, etc. Not much here at Atlas is consistent schedule wise (74) and it sounds like I may be complaining which I am not since I was curious with no care - thanks for the various inputs to the 07z movement, definitely more insight to my normal “what the” has changed now. At least I now can create a canned answer! :D I have been schooled because I’m not gifted. Cheers.

I have been reading the Atlas comments for a long time. 16 years ago I was a Polaroid and now at purple but I have learned quite a bit from the Atlas posts. Getting back to the the subject good and bad, it sure looks like there has been a lot of good since my days. JD is still in charge and still the snake in the grass with the union, well deserved probably. With so many of my colleagues still at Atlas I hope they have a long and good career. Here at purple a lot of changes are starting to go from rumor to fact and as they say, when purple get a cold, the industry gets pneumonia. Not to anyone surprise a lot of our planes are heading to the desert and there are no more new hire classes for the near future. The flying will be decreased and from what I heard we will be depending on wet leases to pick up the slack, all in the name of money saving. What that will mean for ACMI is any ones guess but buckle up.

[QUOTE=Elevation;3585568]Thanks for the well wishes. Nobody knows what the future holds.[/QUOTE...
....and it has been that way at Atlas for 30 years and likely will never change. |

It has benefited me twice now. I am CVG based and routinely finish out the pairing with a NGO-CVG flight that usually gets in around 12:30am local/05:30(04:30)UTC. Twice that flight has delayed a few hours and gotten me in after 0700UTC for the extended day. Granted, it was only an extra 2 hours, but it didn't cost me anything other than getting home at 5am instead of 1am.
*Sometimes a benefit - getting in late or zero dark thirty and getting a decent 5-8hr nap and shower to ride home and spend the rest of the day not too tired and getting things done ain’t bad. Before the change I would get in early afternoon or early evening in a haze, but still in my own bed. Atlas is fluid so you win some and lose some. The key is to win more than you lose and it sounds like jrmyl is winning. Feel like I win quite a bit, but you must use the loopholes/contract benefits with maximum effort. |
Can someone explain Calculated Rig Time (CRT)? From what I read, you’ll get one hour CRT for every 4.95 CRT. Let’s said you flew 99 hours you’ll get extra 20 hours? And paid is 119?
TIA |

It’s not just TAFB, it also includes in base reserve. That’s why it’s not just called a trip rig.

I’ve been reading the 74 has a very high variance to its schedule, however, what are the typical overnights? How long are they? Does JFK see different overnights than say MIA?
Additionally, can someone explain a ‘typical’ few days of flying on the 74? Legs, turns, etc? |
Outbase min credit
Clarify something for me - I've heard some people saying "outbase min guarantee is more like 145 hours because of CRT" or whatever you call it. I understand from the contract it says 130 hours. I also know that your "base" temporarily changes to whatever outbase you get awarded.
So say for example you have an ICN outbase awarded for a 30 day month, is your credit the greater of: a. 130 hours b. 4.84 x 30 c. block (if you beat 130 hours !! *kill me*) d. something else e. all of the above ?? Or is CRT not applicable for the 32 in 7 rest and other "off" days (if in ICN in this example) and travel days to and fro if applicable? So something more like 4.84 x 25? The Atlas contract is a minefield... Hope with the elections coming up there's some reps with a law background in there. Or at least can proofread properly. |
