Hey All,

I've been blessed to get the call from both Connie and Atlas on the 747. I'd love to get some opinions now on how the new CBA compares to the current K4 contract? Home basing vs gateway has been a big one for me. I'm in the greater SEA area so gateway wouldn't be horrible to ANC but would love to get some honest opinions on what the best route to take would be.

For background I'm early 30s no kids, a wife who approves of the upgrade, and hope to have kids in the next 3-5 years. Looking at either as a potential spot to settle. No PIC turbine time from my current regional and honestly still a year away from upgrade and not really dying to sit around as the regional airlines get crushed under todays market.

Atlas. Hands down.

Gateway to ANC is a piece of cake from SEA.
Atlas has more planes; more bases; greater diversity of flying.
Atlas is a publicly traded company.
"The Troubles" are mostly behind Atlas.
Teamsters representatives fight harder for Atlas crews than the ALPA representatives fight for Kalitta crews.

I’d second Atlas. Living in the PNW will make gateway travel to ANC a breeze. Atlas certainly has a better CBA, and a more secure future, in my humble opinion.

Besides, we’ll be buying K4 before long, anyways.

I was in the same spot.
And I spoke to friends at Atlas, Kalitta, FedEx and UPS. They all said Atlas.

Can some of your friends become my friends?

Atlas.
More bases, 4 aircraft types.
In 4-5 years you can pick the type that will best suit your family needs with the seniority to do so.
Start on the 74 though.

Why choose the 747 when starting out? Because of higher credit and seniority progression?

Nah bro, you fly the coolest plane while you’re still without kids.
Travel the seven seas before these little snot bags neuter your life.

Atlas has more planes and more fleets. So you can change fleets as your life changes. We're mostly Atlas pilots that have responded so far, so we may be biased. Also there will be a time when Kalitta has a new contract and we won't. So you may want to ask some Kalitts folks directly too.
