Hey guys, I live in BHM. Just about even with drive times between MEM & ATL (time zone change factored). I’m interested in the ATR. I have 2600TT 900+ FAR 121/135. Also included in that is nearly 600 hours of International time i.e Europe, Asia & Middle East. Any chance of getting hired as PIC? Does MAC do street captains? Which base would be best for QOL?
Thanks
Thanks

Hey , just perusing this thread trying to get some details about life at MAC. I'm currently a 121 FO with 1900TT and with the new fedex Purple Runways program I'm looking a switching from the passenger to cargo sector. If I could get a quick and concise answer on a few questions that'd be really helpful. Looking at moving to south Florida and joining MAC. What are typical schedules ? Sounds like 5 on 2 off ? Do you drive to work every day? How many hours do you get a year on avg ? Are you sitting around a lot not flying but on duty, or does the company use your time efficiently? Will you upgrade at 121 Capt mins even if you don't have 1000pic at that time ? Thanks in advance.

Hey Time To Climb,
We have a trip in Miami that runs 5 days a week (normally work 2-3 days per week). Other trips are typically 4-5 days a week. If you live close and are a based pilot, you can drive to work every day. Otherwise you are considered a floater pilot (Company buys you an airline ticket to and from location, hotel room for the week, rental car for the crew. The average of flight hours varies dependent on the trip you fly (MIA is normally around 7 hours per day to a shorter trip that could be around 1.5 a year). As a captain you work 3 weeks on, one off. FO works 5 weeks on 1 week off. But annual time you will fly could be anywhere from 200 hours - 600 (at the most). For the most part you do have a good bit of free time...If you are home based, your spare time is up to you. If you are floating, your spare time is still up to you however you are still out on the trip's location for the week. I will have to double check on the 121 PIC 1000.

Thanks this is all very helpful. So basically you fly one route ? Doesn't that get old ? And when you're there they give you a rental car to go cruising ....that's not too bad. And floater is basically homebasing....again not too bad. 5 on one off is a little rough but sounds like you get weekends off as well, sorta. The pay is a bit paltry for fo's any chance of seeing any modest increases or is the purple runway program the new recruitment tool ?
