Well perhaps you can enlighten us about your experience beyond reading annual reports. You seem to have a depth of knowledge that no one at Atlas has about ACMI and how Atlas works. Maybe you can shed light on the business plan? Or why they have dropped from 34.9% at EK to the 2010 20.2% value.

Could you also factor in for us the acquisition of the 26 74-8F's and additional 767's coming online? The scheduled/ACMI/AMC composite and charter business? How big will the "mass layoff's " be for those new aircraft?

Come to think of it, how long have you been at Atlas?

Just curious...

Its good to read annual reports if you are looking at Atlas employment. It identifies risks to their shareholders as it does with its exposure to military and emirates.

If I am hired into the 747, although others are hired before me into the 767, once their 767 seat lock is lifted and they bid into the 747 (for pay in this example) can I be displaced to 767 and 767 pay? If I am displaced to 767, can my pay go down? Or can you only move up the pay ladder?

Can't wait for Miami!

I don't believe that a 767 guy coming out of seatlock can displace a 747 FO. The 767 guy will have to take a vacancy award to go to the 747. The only displacements that you will see is if they retire a fleet or maybe a furlough. That seems to have been the case for the Classic guys. The Classic guys can displace, but it's a situation that I don't think Atlas will see again soon. ie...they would have to retire the 767 fleet for those pilots to displace -400/800 pilots that might be junior to them.

Hope that makes sense! I know you can't wait for Miami, but after week 4 -5... home sounds damned good! It must be the longest training program in the USA.... that being said, I think most guys will dig it.

Or a base closure.

A couple Classic guys bid 767 FO but there were no displacements from the 747 to the 767.

And so does showing up in a navy blue suit, white shirt, red tie and tasseled loafers, carrying the WSJ under your arm...with the stock high, low, trend and list of individuals who have bought or sold large blocks of stock recently...and the name of the Chief Pilots dog and a dozen roses for his secretary.

While they make good reading for soporific value, anyone who bases their decision on an annula report needs to consider a more stable line of work...like being a fry cook. Annual reports can provide a look back and nothing more than a SWAG looking forward. World politics, Wall Street speculators and other events can take it all and upend the apple cart, rendering it all useless.

Perhaps you could enlighten us about your career choices and how they are working out based upon your detailed analysis of annual reports?

Sugarsugar is reading the wrong end of the annual report.

There is good and useful information in it and successful interviewees obey the HR directions and have used it to their advantage. Misinterpreting a document like this is an easy mistake for the uninitiated to do. Small things taken out of context can appear to be very damaging when in fact just the opposite is true.

Ka CHING!!!! And we have a winner!!!!

Seriously, I find it fascinating that someone is here pontificating who clearly has no real concept of the operation, the management team or the dynamics and is attempting to apply outdated theories about ACMI to the Atlas model and then expound on hiring vs. mass layoffs. Especially since ACMI and AMC are only a portion of the model.

Wow AMC flying going away really...being on the mil side as well i can tell u AMC is hurting for lift and needs all it can get for the next 2 years and beyond. our mil heavies are ancient and beat up with the -400 killing anything mil with completion rates. u can read all the financial reports u want but finger on the pulse is where its at. oh yeah all those 4000+ metal things with wheels on them that took us 8 years to move over well they've got to come home or get dropped off somewhere along the way home;)))

u can't get anymore diversified a business model than atlas!!!!!! mil freight/charter, civilian freight/charter....what more business is left to cover SUGAR????? Contracts come and go i get that but legacies operating on razor thin margins don't look so promising especially when they are all consolidating....is a consolidating business model better than a growth model!?!!? never had nor want an mba but i'd prefer the later any day...good luck trolling!!!!

BTW i spoke with DBorelli in HR the other day for a friend and she said earliest would be interviews in later half of the year...good luck to all!!!

C5nwhaleguy, did DB give you any indication of hoe the classes are being programmed and when/if they would begin to absorb and/or deplete the current pool.

Best regards!
