Atlas/Polar 767-300F
What's the story? I noticed a few 767-300 hits on the DHL CVG stuff Atlas flies and figured it was an error. However, there has been a "PAC" operating a 767-300 to BRU from CVG the past week or so. So now I don't think so. CAM had a 767-300 (364CM) sitting around for a while. Related?
What's the story and to be clear I know Atlas has PAX 767-300s in addition to the PW 767-200Fs, but the flight number is a DHL trip. Thanks |
There are two new 763ERFs flying BRU and EMA right now from CVG. These two are eventually going to be flying out of NRT. My understanding is that the planes are on the Polar certificate because that's the cert that has Japanese route authority.
The planes aren't from CAM. They were initially to be operated by DHL themselves. They are brand spanking new and were sitting at EMA for a few months. |
They are the two -300ERF's that will soon be flying out of NRT. I guess that starts in March, so they're doing these Atlantic trips until then.

One looks like it did MSP-TOL-CVG last week under the "GTI" numbers then. What are their registrations? Those ones are nice rides if they are like the ones DHK has (winglets). Thanks for the info. |

N643GT/N644GT
They should head to NRT soon. Besides CVG-BRU/CVG-EMA, the other one is supposed to do CVG-MIA, but got tagged to do MSP because - I hope you're sitting down for this - one of the PW200s had mechanical trouble. |
Surprised ATI didn't do the flights since they got both aircraft to the states in 2012 along with 362 and 363. I guess it really doesn't matter in theory.
ATN364 SYD-HNL-ILN ATN365 CMN-JAX-VQQ // ATN101 VQQ-ILN I actually thought those two were these aircraft before I posted the topic. Thanks for the update.... |

The number of people who are shocked of yet more AOG issues :D Thanks for the info. Is there a reason for GTI in the states and PAC to Europe? I have some ideas but don't want to speculate. |
I flew 644GT this week. First revenue flight after acceptance. They are brand new 763Fs. Hearing rumors we may keep the BRU and MIA flying in addition to NRT flying.
|
Do they have Winglets like the other DHK birds? Just did a Google search (slow night) and no pictures have crept onto the web yet.
|
Yes they have winglets. Additionally, the wingspan is 166'11" = 10'10" wider than the -200s and regular -300s (seemed like you might like more technical information...) :)

Like I said.... slow night in paradise. Thanks for the info. |

What are the arrangements for crew rest areas, lavs and galleys on the -200s,-300s and the new -300ERFs?
Just curious, I may just hold out until the 777s arrive. I'm just sayin |

-200s have a stinky honey pot lav, but at least it's not in the flight deck. the "galley" is a couple of locking containers above where you stow your luggage. the -300ERs have business class seats. two birds have it in the center aisle, just forward of the aft galley. deploy the curtains to block out the light and you could freeze meat. seats don't lie flat, but the arm rests are magnets for every passing pax/FA/galley cart. the other pax bird has two seats up in the first class section. you get hot meals, after the FAs have done their service. plan on fruit/sandwich tray until a couple hours into cruise, at least. You have to call back to have someone block the doors every time you need to go pee or need something brought up. |
Just flew the CVG - MIA and back on N644GT last night...flies beautifully, new, and yes it actually has the new-car smell!!
Unfortunately, no bunk, no lay-back seat, and kind of a cramped place for long-haul flying...but the airplane flies amazingly well. After all, it had less than 100 hours on it!! Flying a new airplane is enough to make you want to bid the LAX base we are starting next month (maybe!!) and do only the DHL Asia flying ex NRT...especially after the flying simulator (767-200F) I flew on the outbound from CVG last night:mad: |

JC, VP of Ops, has been quoted as saying there will be 777's at Atlas within 18 months.
|
I can put off my return to the 744 for three years if we get to fly the 777 :D

According to another aviation forum, the two new Altas 76-300ERF's were briefly registered as GDHLJ and GDHLK with DHK in England.

I had heard a rumor of 777s @ ATSG within 2 years back in March 2012. Now that Atlas is the latest DHL obsession, I could see the 777s going to Atlas instead without a second thought. Especially if AAWW takes over Southern Air.
|
If the rumors are true, it has nothing to do with DHL, ATSG or SA.

Little known factoid Boeing still has a line going for 767's at the back of their Everett plant. They don't mention it on the tour that I've done twice! I think they produce 2 a month.

I hope I have to eat my words but need more proof than an upper management guy saying something. After all, we're supposed to get breakfast in the hotels, right? :D |
