Age 67 is not stalling the entire FAA re-authorization. That's going to happen on or around 1 Oct, with or without age 67... as of today it's in the HR.

When age 67 was a stand-alone proposal with a minuscule chance of advancing as such, it could and did get shelved indefinitely. That cannot happen with a major re-authorization... unless they want to shut down the FAA and ATC.

Sounds like they're actually arguing over pilot certification standards at the entry level, not the age 67 part specifically.

I’m glad the rule didn’t change before I hit 65. I would have been tempted to say around another couple years, just for the money. Looking back now, after being retired for over a year; I’m glad I left when I did and still have decent health. (It’s actually much better now, since retiring).

I miss the machine and the comraderie of my crews, and of course the paycheck. I don’t miss all the ancillary BS that has accumulated over the years, esp w/UA.

I have plenty of money and recently realized how much I like living on MY schedule, with NO ONE to tell me when to get up, eat, etc. Maybe I’m spoiled. Spent over 40 years earning a living in an airplane., and retired pretty senior.

Retirement is being wasted on the elderly. Time to move onto motorcycle racing.

There are so many crises screamed from the rooftop, daily. Typically they never come to pass, or are very watered down.

With age, comes wisdom (for some). Know what to ignore and what deserves attention.

I have to say that you've summed it all up in a good way. I do feel the same in many respects. I do miss the camaraderie, the big heavy jets, the great layovers, the ongoing learning and seeing the world. My wife wants me out of the f**ckin house! Whaaat?! I asked her... You gotta a boyfriend or something? She said no. I just like it when you're not always home though. Did I marry a honest "sheep"? Or what? I also would've gone the distance age 67 (i.e. our CBA retirement improvements). Oh well, wasn't meant to be. I'm good. Health and happiness = EVERYTHING.
