Discussion on airworthiness. (Alaska style)
Mitchieville Blog Archive Bear Destroys Plane - Duct Tape To The Rescue
I'm trying to understand if anything this pilot did was actually legal in some way or not? I believe that everything that pilot did was safe and within his judgment to be flyable. I wanted to argue that the repairs fall under Part 43 in Preventive maintenance where a private pilot is allowed to make "simple fabric patches, where it doesnt require the removal of control surfaces or structures..." It also seems that what he did would fall under a 'major airframe repair'. Which a private pilot obviously is not allowed to do. What do you think? The person I am discussing this with believes that the pilot should have had his certificate revoked permanently.... |
Ferry Permit anyone ??
Safe, legal, smart - Alaska - ?? Condition for safe operation? Meets it type certificate design specs ? Hum ? Whats the point ? Its done - flown out - good luck - no discussion needed -
