FAA medical type if jumpseating
If your medical has reverted from Class 1 to Class 2 because it's been over 6 months (over 40) are you still able to jumpseat on Delta/AA? Couldn't find it in the ALPA jumpseat guide. It just says you must have FAA medical (Doesn't say Class 1)

you're legal to fly with a 2nd class but I doubt it's acceptable for jumpseating.....do you not understand the medical requirements of sitting there in the jumpseat? I think the requirements should be even higher than for the operating crew.
Sorry...wasn't sure if you were being serious or not.

You just need a current medical, that's all. I'm going to assume you and the OP are prior military? Some guys like to mess with the naivety you have when it comes to airline ops. Kinda like you did with noobs in the squadron.

He was being sarcastic. The last line he posted, "Sorry...wasn't sure if you were being serious or not," is the key.

Your medical does not revert from first class to second class. It remains a first class medical. After six months, it's only good for second class privileges, but remains a first class.

Read your company FOM for the answer. We do not require any medical at all for company pilots (accommodates those on med leave, including some management folks). So it's a apparently a company thing, not an FAA/TSA thing.
But for planning purposes for offline JS, best to plan on having all of the required docs in hand, without any confusing special cases. Don't make the CA do research while trying to close the door and push.
