Yeah I can’t deny the high (quality) maintenance requirements.
These planes shouldn’t live outside either, Florida weather wasn’t very gentle on the finish.
I consider Thielert the Gen 1 of alternative fuel engines. The 3.0 or even 4th generation engines may be more maintenance friendly.
DA42 with the 1.7 still my favorite.

Not specifically mentioned but the ‘Diesel’ engines are generally run on JetA.

It's easier to be efficient when you're burning fuel that costs $3/gallon instead of $7.
By efficiency I mean $/mile not BSFC obviously.
