I NEED your advice!!!
I have been in the part 91 corporate world since I left flight school. Made the decision to switch to 121 world recently.
I Currently have: Commercial 2350 TT 1855 PIC 1121 Multi (75% is PIC turbine/jet) No ATP CTP or written completed yet. I have my first baby to be born in 8 weeks so I’m trying to get a base I can get to one way from where I live (Amarillo Tx). That gives me Dallas, Houston, Phoenix and Denver. (PHX and DEN only get a couple flights a day, Dallas and Houston get about 4 a day). Long story short, I’m struggling with what regional to go with and I need some guidance. My plan was to go with Envoy, but it’s been over a month since I applied there, have not been called for an interview and am probably going to need to choose someone else if they don’t call in the next month or two. I read a guy applied months ago similar to me and still hasn’t been called for an interview. I’m considering Republic and bidding for Houston once that opens. I’ve heard to stay away from Mesa. Don’t know much about Skywest, Express Jet or TSA. Can someone help point me into the right direction? Give me your opinions. I’m considering all things. Pay, bases, quality of life, everything. Just need some heellllllpppppppp lol. |

Hope this helps. |

Well for starters with your hours you are eligible for upgrade at Envoy (at least very close to it).
I thought 1000 hours was a requirement. |

This is on today's Republic thread re: Houston: If IAH is anything like MIA, it will stay junior initially and then become senior as it seems like it will be a good recruiting tool for those that live in Texas. If I recall correctly, MIA was pretty quickly awarded to new hires for about the first year it was open. As someone else said, a new hire got IAH. The only question is how much it is going to grow as a base. It’s currently just over 20 crews and fully awarded/staffed for its opening in July. This last bid had only 1 vacancy for FO’s in August so there is no initial growth forecasted. |
Are you sure you didn’t make a mistake on your app that made the computer reject it? Medical or passport date or something? I have a hard time believing any regional except maybe 9E or RAH would decline to interview any ATP qualified pilot right now.
Also, keep in mind that no matter what airline you go to, you’ll be spending several months straight in training with little or no opportunity to go home. Not sure leaving your wife alone with a brand new baby for 2 months is the best idea. As far as SkyWest goes, IAH is shrinking and very well may be going away. PHX is pretty senior. DEN you can get a couple months after training, but with only two flights, you’ll probably have to commute the day before/after quite a bit. Upgrades in DEN are in the 4+ year range. |
All the aa wo recruiting and training departments are very backed up...
My advice.. go to republic as they seem to be getting people through the quickest... get your time go to spirit, frontier, jet blue ASAP. Sniff at the majors.. |

Seriously? I don't see ANY 121 or applicable 135 time listed.
I thought 1000 hours was a requirement. |

Read the regs. PIC jet counts towards the 1000 hours. Plenty of guys recently upgraded as street captains having flown nothing more than a citation or lear part 91 as pic. I don’t necessarily agree with it, but it’s legal.
This is completely wrong |
whether its in the reg or not, Envoy requires 1000 part 121 time
