Quick question for you all..
I left the regionals about 6 years ago because I was pretty frustrated with the way the industry was playing out. I’m looking now to get back in the game and obviously will be facing some recency issues.
My question is what sort of hoops will I have to jump through to get back in the game? I have about 3000 turbine, 3500 TT. Expired ATP written.
Do the regionals now cater training to bring guys like be back on or am I looking at completely getting rechecked from a local FBO examiner?

You will need to take a ATP-CTP course before you can take the written. The good news is if you have ATP mins, regionals will put you through the course and cover your written then of course you will get the ATP done when you complete the type ride.

My advice, get current if you aren’t, get proficient if you can and apply if you haven’t.

I took a break before I came to 121. Not 6 years, but a decent break nonetheless. I found a local school that had an sim training device to shoot approaches and practice basic IFR stuff like holds etc in. And then I went up in a 172 and did some take offs and landings to get current.

I tried to keep it all under $500 and I remember coming pretty close to that for a couple hours of sim time and a couple hours in a plane. Well worth it though...

Endeavor is a nice place to work I’ve heard

Meh, unless you want to commute to NYC and sit reserve until Delta grows them again... then again they do pay more.

I took a 15 year break without having touched an aircraft except to do a BFR in a 172 before I submitted any applications. I had 2000 hours total including 1000 121 SIC and no ATP. Got hired, everything was fine. This was in April last year. YMMV.

Basically something that tends to be said every time. Where do you live/want to live? A regional is a regional. Everyone claims to have the shiniest jets and the pay scales change. The one thing that seems to trump them all is if you can drive into work, it makes the suck, suck less.

True, but you’ll get paid more on reserve there as opposed to being on reserve here, and you won’t get abused as badly.

Their pay and contract is better but a new hire at Endeavor now will be on reserve in NYC for the foreseeable future. They have FOs not making their consolidation time right now. Rumors of more growth for them in 2019 but for now reserve it is.
