Red face Will my ATPL be recognised WorldWide?

Hi folks,
First time poster here...

I am from the UK however living in Dubai for work. I am considering a career change.

My question is, if I obtained my ATPL out here in Dubai, would it be recognised worldwide? The reason I say this is, in certain industries, if you obtain qualifications from from certain countries in the Middle East or Asia, they are not taken seriously. I don't want to be in a position whereby I put myself into debt obtaining a ATPL to find out that its only going to hold value in the Middle East.

Please can someone help me?

Since you are posting in a USA forum I'll give you the FAA answer. Your UAE ATPL allows you to skip getting a FAA private, IR and commercial certificate. To fly an N registered aircraft in the USA at the ATP level you would have to complete a CTP course, pass the written test, receive and log training and pass a checkride the same as a FAA rated commercial IR pilot.

So, could you use your UAE license for an American pilot job? The short answer is no.

Few countries have ATP reciprocity, you'll generally have to get the local license. EU countries are reciprocal, since they share an aviation authority. Also I think a few smaller countries will accept a US, EU, or other foriegn license, but they are probably not places you really want to live.
