Have not flown in 15 years. How to come back?
Thanks in advance for any advice and guidance. I am a 57 year old former military jet pilot who has not flown in 15+ years.
Would like to get back in the game before it is too late. Funny how time flies by so fast and you get old before you know it.
1400 hours. Mostly fighter jet and jet trainers but includes 130 hours as co-pilot in the C-130. Was a military flight instructor.
Have Commercial multi-engine/instrument certificate. Passed ATP written but that was 15 years ago. Was going to interview with a major back then but got side tracked by a non flying opportunity.
Currently living in Las Vegas and want to remain there as home base. Not ruling out anything though including cargo. Got some time doing that in the Herc.
Thanks again for any and all input.

Nope. Local Part 61 school, just to get your head back in the game. Then read the helpful stuff in the APC forums. The CFII who does your instrument refresher can probably give you hints. He/She will be moving on to a regional soon too. Start studying (again) for your ATP written.

You'll eventually figure out that Allegiant has a base in LAS. Nothing really to write home about as far as majors go, but last I heard the vast majority of their flying was day trips, ie home every night. If you don't want to go all in on commuting to reserve for a legacy, and then commuting to a line forever, you might look into that. Sitting reserve at home and not commuting can be a game changer.
They got a new contract and I think have gotten their past operational issues under control. I'd certainly look into if they had a base in my home town.
