Depends on your personal circumstances (age, family, finances) and the geography of the LCC. Also how long to flow.

Hijacking this thread with a similar question. Assume I were to flow to AA in 2.5 years, and I wanted to live somewhere between Tampa and Port Charlotte along the coast. Would driving to MIA on a 3+ hour drive be better than trying to fly from Fort Myers, SRQ, or TPA? Is AA even the best bet for someone looking to live in that area long term? I know allegiant is an option, but that seems like a hard pill to swallow with a flow date not too far off. Living near DFW now so I have only heard horror stories about the Florida commutes. Thanks for any insight in advance.

TPA to MIA is a thing. SRQ and RSW go to DFW and ORD. I guess I should have specified. I would want to commute to an AA domicile or TPA to MIA or just drive to MIA.

That's why they call Florida "God's waiting room."

I’ll try and give some insight. If you live in Tampa, it’s a 3+30 drive to Miami doing 80 with no traffic. With traffic (normal), it’s closer to 4 hours or more. The other catch, there only a few ways to really go when you drive. Pick one and hope there’s not an accident or you’re screwed.

While AA only serves MIA, SWA goes into PBI and FLL from TPA. Not sure where Silver goes.

If you live by Port Charlotte, it’s probably easier to drive to MIA than drive to TPA for a flight.

YMMV.

Anyone doing the TPA-MIA, TPA-ORD, TPA-DFW commute on American or United? Looking to see how viable it is to commute out of TPA to any of those places in today's world. Thanks
