Default 121 checkride failure and moving on

I failed my Captain upgrade LOE at a regional. I had one failure from my primary training and this is my first 121 failure. I read on this forum of people mentioning that people with 121 failure are not hirable for about 2 years. Does anyone know where that 2 year is coming from or is that even true? Do you or know of anyone who got hired within 2 years after failing 121 checkride?

You'll be just fine. Keep your nose clean from here on out but 2 years as captain is pretty much bare minimum to be competitive anyway. Don't look back and don't fail any others.

What actually matters is how you answer the question when they ask in an interview.

If you don't man up and take responsibility, then it's going to be a problem. If you give even a hint of blame towards the training program or the examiner, you won't get hired. Take responsibility and it won't be a problem.

Similar situation, except I failed my initial type ride (LOE). Also failed my PPL 9 years ago. Are there guys at the legacy levels with previous 121 failures?
