Timezones and circadian stupidity get real old, real quick.

People do WB flying mostly because you block and credit while in the bunk and can hit your monthly credit in 6-10 days and take the rest of the month off. And money.

There are a few sweet deals where all the time zones line up so you're not working in WOCL and have a long enough layover to sleep during WOCL and enjoy Paris, etc. But that's somewhat rare and senior.

OTOH, multiple short layovers after 5-leg days and winter weather get old, too. One leg and done. And, I did it the hard way, military and corporate.

I'm a one-and-done guy myself to be sure. I Just try to avoid as much WOCL as possible.

If I need a day off for some family thing I'd rather do 3-4 legs the day before than a red-eye (or early show east of base). QOL suffers for 24-30 hours after.

Roger. I do have a degree thankfully. That was my guess in terms of if a call from the AA, DAL, etc. would be to minimum get a 121 type. Just never had an interest in flying heavies across the pond for some reason.

Don’t diss it unless you’ve tried it.
No joke, Atlas is hiring and with the “new” arbitrated CbA pay is on par with narrow body at AA/United.
A 76/77/74 type plus a year of traveling the globe will put you ahead of the Regional crowd.
By their own admission by one of their Chief Pilots we’re the best pool for UPS.
I don’t agree with what the article states but look at the table

Most leave in their first 3 years and are leaving for the Majors.

I imagine so. I’d love to see the world and get paid for it, just never figured I’d enjoy that long term.

I’ve been doing that on the corporate side. Honestly, i enjoy that more than doing the one (usually short) leg and sit somewhere on call for 72 hours. On the flip side doing 5 legs a day for 14+ days straight really gets old fast.

Not dissing it, i think flying a heavy ‘round the world would be awesome i just never saw myself doing it long term. I applied to Atlas last week, haven’t gotten word back but reading through the forums it sounds like pay went up but QOL got worse?

Not sure why QOL would be worse? The new scheduling language has lots of improvements. Most QOL items are either improvements or current book.

Just from reading the forums it sounds like current employees aren’t happy. If you go into the Atlas page on here that’s what I’m referring to.

Not happy does not mean things got worse.
