How does someone do a background check on themselves? Should I just google "background check?"

Thanks for the info,

The FBI does not do TS/SCI investigations (at least for military). It's the Defense Investigative Service or something like that. Since they're backlogged, they also contract out a ton of the work.

The last time I was interviewed the guy was an FBI agent. He said he used to work for DIS but they all migrated over to the FBI after 9/11.

So when companies list on requirements that you pass a 10 year background check does that mean you must have no tickets, charges, lawsuits, bad employment history or other things that stick out? Or just the fact that you devulge all information as long is it is not to serious?

Remember, they've got "SCMODS" State, County, Municipal Offender Data System. (Just kidding, Blues Bros is on tv). I was told that the NDR that you get notarized discloses ALL traffic findings, even if the remediation was a school.

Tell them everything, be ready to treat any as TMAAT lessons learned.

They're looking for HONESTY... not perfection... nobody's perfect, so what they want to see is what you've learned from your mistakes and that you aren't a habitual line stepper :) ... by 10 year background check, they're looking that you haven't been a felon and that your employment history is credible -- if you've left a place because of a conflict or they fired you, you'll be okay -- they look @ this stuff AFTER you're hired, not before.

I understand the NCIC background check, but what about the military. I got out of the military just about 15 years ago. My discharge was Honorable. Will they still check even though it exceeds the 10 year guideline?

What if you were arrested for something beyond 10 years - do you still have to list that?

Seems the apps. only ask for the past 10 years.

Has anyone been asked if they've "ever" been arrested?

whats the deal with the 10 year cutoff? arbitrary?

Has anyone openly confessed to misdemeanor convictions beyond 10 years without any problems?
