Thumbs down Who Owns AviationInterviews.com

I've been noticing that anytime someone asks a question about an interview everyone always says go signup for aviationinterviews.com. This is a website that literally charges $40 a month for membership to see a few airlines, and its owners are doing absolutely nothing but raking in millions of dollars off of pilots a year. And the kicker is after you join then you write a detailed write up of your interview, which goes behind a paywall that they use to charge other pilots for your interview details. So they are basically operating a website that costs them almost nothing to maintain, and they are making probably over $100k a month in straight profit.

Why can't we setup a free place like this forum for us to share interview gouge, so we can stop paying all this money to these guys. They claim to have helped over 169,000 people. At $40 a person that's $6.7 million for operating a single website and not actually even putting any data on there, as it's all sourced from other pilots for free! And if you forget to cancel by even one day they charge you another full month, no refunds ever.

If anyone knows an alternative website that doesn't charge money for free interview gouge, please post it on here.

Someone had a good idea and capitalized on it. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Not a bad idea actually. Could be implemented as a subforum structure, we're open to any thoughts as to how it should look and operate.

Probably need to pre-moderate all posts to keep it on the rails.

I’m thinking since we already have a section for almost every airline just put a sticky thread or some other place where people can post their stats and a narrative about the interview. Each airline has its own sticky thread in their own forum. APC is famous enough that if you guys added this feature I think it would really kick off. We just need a template, kind of like the yearly W2 threads have in the first post.

I found a free website actually but it’s not as updated as the aviation interview because guys don’t know about it. Aviation interviews used to be free, then he started charging 10 bucks. Then 20 and now 40. It’s time someone disrupted this monopoly.

I have that website to thank for getting hired at a legacy. Spending $40 to make millions was a worthwhile trade.

That website isn’t what you have to thank. It’s your fellow pilots who posted all the gouge online. I think we could set it up on APC to make it work and save all pilots looking for a job some money. The website used to be free then the guys kept hiking the prices. We shouldn’t have to pay a third party to read interviews submitted by other pilots.

Only a pilot would complain about spending $40 in prep to help secure a career worth millions in direct earnings and millions more in retirement value.

I can afford to spend $40 but it's not a prep service. Why should a website owner be able to scam the collective pilot group out of this money by putting our own interview write ups behind a paywall. We're the one's giving him the interview information, it's not like the website is actually doing anything to research interview gouge. Also it rubs me wrong that the website was free a few years ago, then it was $10, and now he's jacked it up to $40 with an auto-renew feature so he can get you for an extra month if you forget to cancel. It's a scam.

We could easily start a section on APC for this and put him out of business in 2 weeks. This is probably the most visited pilot website in the world. APC would make money on the ads and we could save pilots millions of dollars.
