Default PC-12 to Major?

I've read quite a few accounts of different Legacies/LCC's that are selectively picking folks up with as little as a few hundred hours of turbine time. Does anyone know if folks are getting picked up with PC-12 time rather than turbine multi? Trying to aid a family member in plotting their path.

Theoretically it’s possible with todays low hiring minimums. Regionals have been taking PC-12 time for a while outside of that but in up until a few years ago single engine turbo prop wasn’t very valuable. That changed when the majors started recognizing U-28s militarized PC-12s as well as military trainers as the equivalent of single engine jet/multi engine turbine time (depending on company). Depending on the rest of the hours, if civilian background, the person in question will probably get picked up quicker by going to a regional.

Just apply. If nobody calls, go to a regional. Pretty straight forward. Either way you probably have a better chance of getting a bite with PC12 experience than just multi CFI

I know of some people that went from Planesense to JetBlue and SWA. Not sure if they had previous multi time and one of them was flying the jet at PS. It’s not a bad way to build time, but if there are alternatives that will get you multi time I would go with them.

Yes, the only reason ASEL turbine time has historically counted towards major airline minimums is because some fighters only have one engine. Just because they hire harrier and viper pilots doesn't mean they'll extend the same welcome to PC-12, etc experience.

In this climate anything's possible, but it's hard to predict who might call and who might not, and how much total experience you might need. So something of an uncertain path. I think you'd get called eventually, but not necessarily by your first choice.
