Hey, i'm 19 years old and im turning 20 in april. I've been accepted to a college here in ThunderBay, Ontario for Aviation Management and it's a 2 1/2 year program. This school has been sponsored by Air Canada ( They build an airport for the school, donated cessna planes and a Boeing, lol ) The school has also partnered with different Airline companies in Canada so that graduates get a job right after school. Statistically, 94% of all graduates get a job right after college.
The school has classes during weekdays and students fly during the weekends for the duration of the program. We will learn how to fly ski/water/ground planes, is that an advantage?
I've talked to some teachers there and they've all said that the pilots that pursued being a pilot mostly work for Air Canada, WestJet, BearSkin, Jazz, Air Transat airlines today.

What i'm wondering is if any of you can tell me if i'm starting my career a bit too late and maybe i'm too old and it wont work out for me. Is this a normal age to become a pilot? I've taken some time off school after high school and now I dearly regret it.
I also noticed that in Canada it seems that most of the airline companies are hiring unlike in the U.S and that the pay is a lot better here. Is there any reason to that?
I'm not going to be paying to get my hours after school. I'm planning on getting a job somewhere north flying a DC-8, working overtime and getting my hours up.
So can anyone tell me if im on therigh path? Am I too old? Why is it that in Canada its easier to become a pilot?
Thanks, Alan.
