You passed your CFI, you'll do fine on the interview. The only thing to watch out for is you psyching yourself out.

I did my initial HP/complex in a Comanche. They are an absolute dream to fly. They're not any more complicated than an Arrow or 172RG, they're just faster and heavier. Don't be scared of them!

You're a commercial pilot and certified flight instructor, it's an airplane. Make it do what you want it to do. You've already proven that you're capable of doing that.

As for the interview, everyone said it. Relax and teach the guy. If you passed the checkride, you are already good to go. Just show him what you already showed the FAA.

As for the second job, my previous employer told a few students if they went from Private to CFI in 2 years (while taking a full college course load), they would be guaranteed an interview for a CFI position. Guess how many of them became instructors after then dropped all that money up front...?

Any employer who is tell you something like that is milking you as a costumer. Don't get suckered!

I remember my interview as well. I had to do a 50 questions, all from the test guide. I had to get at least 70%. Then we went out to fly, no big deal. Just a flight where he showed me around.I flew off course, and on the way to different check points he told me to do stalls and steep turns. At the end we did some landings...good luck

I have been working at the Houston school since Oct. 1, 2009 and it's been going pretty well! The school is called Hi-Tech Aviation and it's at DWH. They actually don't have a commanche, it's a Piper Arrow. Since getting here in Oct i've flown almost 100 hrs. (94 currently).

Regarding the other interview, I did end up driving over to Austin to meet with him but it's exactly like everyone is saying... he put me into a Sim and had me fly a few approaches and that was IT. He didn't show me around, show me his airplanes or the airport. Nothing! I left afterwards and never looked back or called. Two days later I got offered the job at DWH and have been slowly flying more and more since. I'd love to find some on-call right seat stuff somewhere in the area but i still probably have too low of time.. only about 380 currently.

It's funny how worked up we all get for every job interview, only to have it be a big letdown sometimes. It's like "that was it? Umm, okay." Better to be on the ball though and prepared. Good luck with the job!
