This will makes things tougher for you in the short run, but in the long run you should be OK. This assumes that you don't have any more incidents. People understand that something like this can happen to just about anyone...once. If there is a trend they will start to think the problem is actually you, not just bad luck or lack of experience..

This was a purely unintentional incident, unlike DUI, flying with MX problems, or other intentional violations. It also depends on your age and experience. If you are young with low time they will assume that you will learn and grow from this. If you are old and high time...not so much.

Out of curiosity, what was the actual violation for? Obviously it was for hitting a few lights, but what was the language of the violation for?

Did you fill out an ASRS report regarding it?

As other people have said, it's not a game ender. It may make the game a little more difficult to play. Learn from it, keep the nose clean, and don't lie about it. You could very well be the next "Sully."

The thing I think everyone has to realize (and probably does), is that this stuff could happen to ANYONE, ANYTIME. We tend to think that the more hours you have, the less likely this is to occur. While it tends to happen more often at lower hours, it doesn't go away entirely with more.

I am not sure if it would have helped in your situation, but next time, ANYTHING happens that you think is the slightest bit odd - fill out an ASRS. Don't worry about how little it is or the fact "no one saw." That's not the point of the ASRS. The point is to help NASA, but in the mean time it CYA.

Best of luck!

In my personal opinion, this is excellent advise. Yes, this is bad news for you right now. But as it has been pointed out, you can turn a negative experience into a positive one.

Best of luck in the future!

Well considering he hit more then one light, the chances of the same blade hitting all the lights are against you.

Do the ASRS (if it's not already too late).

However...ASRS will not keep you from getting violated, it will just prevent the FAA from suspending your ticket. Basically a "suspended sentence". The violation will still exist, and will still have to be reported to employers.

Maybe the wheels got the other lights?

I appreciate your insight. My violation was officially for being, "careless and reckless."

For those wondering my time at the time of the incident was around 2,150 TT. I currently have about 2,450 TT.
