A few questions for you, since I applied with them and am hoping for an interview. 750TT and 50multi. What were your times when you applied, and how soon after your resume submission did you get an invite? Like I said, really hoping to get an interview with them.

If you do an internet search of airline pilot interviews, you will find the website that has a gouge. I read one recent interview gouge on it and membership for a month is about $8

Yeah man, no worries. I have about 780, I have 150 multi, and I was very fortunate to have a company man walk my stuff in; To be honest I think that was the reason.

Yeah, I already have a subscription to airlineinterviewgouges. but The recent one doesn't say much and the rest of them are from 2005....

Interview is very straightforward... wunderlic test (essentially an IQ test... no way to study for it) ATP written questions... easy, nobody failed... HR and tech interview was quick and painless... then the sim is a frasca that they have you fly for a little bit... get your conditional job offer, go for drug testing, then back to the airport... they pay for the hotel and NRSA you back and forth to MSP... they had people who were instructors all the way down to the 600/50 level, and i've heard of a few who didn't even have the 50 multi, they were told to get to 50 by class... for those who want to go over to colgan, the 1000/100 is a hard deck

So how was the sim, and how were the people?

Corndawg88, good luck with your interview. I'm scheduled to go up on the 31st. It's my 1st airline interview, so I'm a feeling a little anxious. The "sim" portion is what concerns me the most. I've heard it described as a "tabletop" device, a Frasca type sim, et al. Not really sure what to expect. Other than a PCATD, I haven't tried any training devices. Thinking about finding a Frasca or Redbird to practice before the 31st. Also unclear if you fly it solo or if "examiner" will assist, as they apparently do at some airlines. What part of the country you coming from? I'm out of NC.

I interviewed on the the 18th. It was pretty straight forward and a lot easier than I thought. Didn't get the job offer though. I'm really not sure why and when I asked they couldn't tell me. Still trying to figure it out.. Anyways I wrote up a couple things that I remembered hope it helps.
-One hour presentation on the company.
-wonderlic test
-written test
-airspeed below 10,000
-class d cloud clearances
-holds
-identify the final approach fix
-what type of runway lighting
-how often you need vor check
-when can you sidestep
-taf forecast at certain time
-“you have the approach lights but not the runway” how low can you go
-oral/technical
-any speeding tickets or misdemeanors
-checkride failures
-logbook shown to pilot/paperwork given to hr
-tell me about a time you flew and probably shouldn’t have
-you notice something wrong on the plane, you tell the captain, he calls the right people, maybe misdescribes the situation, what would you do? Would you follow up on it when back at base?
-describe the pitot system of the plane you’re flying
-are there and procedures/policies about you current job that you would change or have changed
-you see someone at your job doing something wrong, how do you confront them
-most rewarding part of your job
-time you’ve been pressured to fly and how you dealt with it
-ILS jepp chart ERI
-why do the top frequencies have stars by them
-what’s the holding pattern at the beginning of the loc (course reviersal)
-what are your minimums if the gs is out
-what does 1223 “conditional DH” mean
-MSA what does it mean/show
-identify the highest obstacle
-how would you enter the hold on the map/ what would your max speed be
-Jepp Low Alt Enroute
-airports with IAP’s
-what’s the MEA, MOCA, MRA
-identify class E on the surface, class E at 14,500
-class E vfr weather minimums (below 10,000)
-restricted airspace

DSRoss---thanks for the generous post. I can imagine it's frustrating when you get no explanation for their decision. Feedback is important so that you can improve your chances of a better outcome at the next interview. It sounds like you were a qualified candidate. I hope you look back at the experience as having been a great opportunity to get some airline interview experience!

Your description of the interview is consistent with other info. I've read, and adds some detail that that I haven't heard before. Thanks again! If you don't mind me asking, what type of simulator did they use, and what approach were they using at your interview? I've heard the ILS 6 at KISP has been used during some interviews. I know I need to be prepared for any approach, but the more I can familiarize myself with beforehand, the more confident I think I'll be.

DSRoss996 05-20-2011 01:43 PM

It was the ILS 6 ISP. The guy who does the presentation's name is Ross and he also runs the sim. He flat out tells you what approach you are going to do and what he wants you to do after the initial morning presentation. It sounded very simple, steep turns, direction from a vor, vectors to an approach. I believe it was something like an AST100 sim (if that sounds right). He showed it to us before any of us even went to the hr/technical portion.
