Preparing to leave regional
I'm thinking about leaving my regional job (moving up) and getting my ducks in a row. Resume is up to date, and in the process of getting letters of recommendation. I have a few lined up, but was wondering if I should ask the chief pilot to write one for me.
I have a fairly good relationship with him, but am worried about letting the company know my intentions about leaving. However, I think it would look pretty good to the airlines I am applying for.
Any advice?

I guess it depends on your relationship with him/her. If you guys can talk about things other than work such as how their family is doing...then I say go ahead and ask...NOW...if your in their office all the time because "excessive" sick calls or too many no shows...then I would say stay out of the office. If you are floating some where in between, the recommendation probably wouldn't be that strong since the relationship isn't all friendly buddy buddy....Just my opinion...Good Luck!!!!

I would worry more about knowing what the company is looking for in a pilot than what your soon to be x-boss says about you in a letter. Whatever interview you walk into you want to be the guy they are looking for. "that" guy is vastly different from netjets to jetblue to delta. Do your homework and you'll be fine.
