Driving Record
#1
I am just curious on how much driving records play a roll into getting hired at a regional. I am currently flight instructing and getting to the point where I am going to start applying at regional’s. I have been reading through some of the threads and am getting nervous about how much I see people mentioning driving records when talking about getting hired. I am currently 25 and I just pulled my 5 year driving record, and I have 2 speeding tickets on it both over 3 years old, but if you go back ten years I was still in high school and there are quite a few. I don’t know to be exactly how many, but I got a lot of speeding tickets back then. All my violations have been speeding, and one tailgating ticket like 6 years ago. Will airlines look to see that my trend has changed only having 2 tickets in the last 5 years or will those speeding tickets from back when I was in high school stop me from getting a job.

When I was 18-19 I had about 7-8 tickets. I was hired by a regional in 2006... The last violation I had was 2001, and I've been clean since. I was asked during the inveterview by the 2 Capt. "Have you ever had a moving violoation?" my respose was "How far do you want to go back?" I think it was the fact that I've been clean eversince I got to college, and showed improvements.
It depends on who you are interview with and how HR feels about moving violation.
